Christmas at Sea
Mission Statement

The Seafarers Ministry of the Golden Gate seeks to share Christ with all seafarers. For those who are Christians we seek to offer encouragement and growth In their Christian Faith. For those who are not Christians we seek to share Good News of Jesus Christ in Word and deed so that they will be challenged by the claims of Christ as the Son of God.

Christmas is an important time in the Ministry of the Seafarers Ministry of the Golden Gate. It gives us a chance to present Christ in a special way. For those seafarers who are Christians, it is a difficult time to be away from home and family. We do not want to forget these sons and daughters of God at this important time of year. A small gift reminds them that they are not forgotten by us, and most of all not forgotten by Christ.

Because God gave his son for all people, we believe it is just as important to share Christmas with those seafarers who are not Christians. While they may not experience the loneliness of being away from home during an important family holiday, they still experience loneliness. More important, we want those seafarers to also experience the love of Christ and we want them to know that God sent his Son for them as well.

If we want to show seafarers that they are important to God and to us through a gift, the gift should be thoughtful and of such quality that it expresses the importance that we want to attach to it. This does not mean that the gift need be expensive, but it should be attractive and useful.
